Historical Perspective The Gaushala movement has long been associated with the protection and well-being of cows, which have been revered in Indian culture since Vedic times. Cows were considered both material and spiritual assets, forming the backbone of rural life and the economy. In ancient India, vast grazing lands (Gochar Bhumi) were preserved, and people generously donated land to Gaushalas to ensure cows had sufficient resources. This deep-rooted tradition, known as Go-Sanskriti, highlights the importance of cow protection in Indian heritage.

Current Scenario Unfortunately, in modern times, cows face extreme suffering. Many are born in dairy farms, where male calves are often slaughtered for leather, and female cows endure inhumane conditions. They are artificially inseminated, separated from their calves, and exploited for milk production. Once they become unproductive, they are abandoned, left to die due to starvation, plastic ingestion, or fatal accidents. Many also face cruelty during illegal transportation for slaughter, enduring long journeys without food, water, or rest.

About Kamdhenu Gau Dhaam Kamdhenu Gau Dhaam is a sanctuary for old, sick, and abandoned cows, named after the sacred wish-fulfilling cow, Kamdhenu. It serves as a refuge for these gentle beings, providing them with food, medical care, and a safe environment.
